Group Psychotherapy

While group therapy is a core component of the Approach IOP program, we also offer stand-alone psychotherapy groups for individuals who may not need, or are not ready for, the full intensive outpatient program. These groups are open to the community and provide structured, evidence-based support for specific concerns like social anxiety, avoidance, and isolation.

Social Anxiety ACT Group

This structured, 10-week group is designed for adults experiencing social anxiety, avoidance, or isolation. The group is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidence-based approach that teaches practical skills to face fears, stay present, and take meaningful action.

ACT incorporates mindfulness practices and a focus on personal values to increase psychological flexibility—the ability to respond to difficult thoughts and feelings in more effective ways. Through weekly 80-minute sessions, members engage in experiential exercises, values exploration, and exposure-based activities in a supportive group setting. The goal is not to eliminate anxiety, but to build confidence and freedom in navigating social situations.

When: Mondays from 5:30pm - 7 pm. Continuing weekly on Monday's from 5:30 pm - 7 pm.

Fee: $120 per group session

Social Anxiety Process Group

Social anxiety and avoidance can make it difficult to connect with others, pursue goals, or feel comfortable in everyday situations. This ongoing process group offers a supportive, consistent space to explore these challenges and develop more authentic, confident ways of relating.

What Is a Process Group?
In a process group, the focus is on the here and now—how members experience themselves and one another in real time. With the guidance of a skilled therapist, participants learn to recognize and express their emotions, understand relational patterns, and practice new ways of connecting within the safety of the group.

Benefits of Group Therapy for Social Anxiety:

  • Gain insight into how anxiety and avoidance affect your relationships

  • Practice vulnerability, assertiveness, and communication in a supportive environment

  • Experience connection and belonging with others who understand

  • Receive honest, compassionate feedback and support

  • Build confidence that extends beyond the therapy room

This group is ongoing, allowing members to deepen their work over time and experience lasting change.

If you often feel self-conscious, withdrawn, or disconnected, this group offers a place to be understood—and to practice new ways of showing up in the world.

Monday's 2:45 pm - 4:00 pm
